Hearing my non-muslim relatives saying the women of my family should be allowed to walk the streets without being harassed after this whole Woolwich incident.

What they are saying is true. We should be able to. But this society doesn’t work like that. So we can’t. And that’s just how it is.

I miss being able to walk like I used to just two days ago. But there isn’t anything that anybody can do about it. Everything is in Allah’s hands alone. If this His trial for me, then I am honoured to be patient in the face of it.

…not to post about the Woolwich murder, because everytime I see the coverage it upsets me.

But I have to write about it again, because I’m terrified that my life will be in danger. I can’t walk on the streets of my home, because I’m afraid that I’ll be attacked by some deranged idiot who hasn’t a clue about my religion. That my headscarf will be torn off my head and I’ll be beaten and hopsitalised without a second thought.

Yes. What those two men did, was wrong. I condone them. I hate what they’ve done to our community. My community is diverse. We have people from all over the world living here. All races and religion. We live in harmony. We help one another and we all look out for each other.

Yet today, I heard that a Muslim sister was attacked. She was attacked 15 minutes away from where I live. Because of the events that have taken place.

I don’t understand. How can you tell us to go home back to our countries when most of us were born here? Why do we have to apologise for these deranged people who are not in anyway, related to my faith? Just because he praised God.

I was born here. I live here. When my city is attacked, I cry. Because this is my city too.

My thoughts are with the deceased’s family. Because that’s what really matters, not those two idiots who recieved air time.
